Ours begins in Tsavo, Kenya — where weaving has long been part of daily life.

Since 2014, Hadithi has grown into a network of more than 1,800 women across 65 groups, working from their homes and villages. What began with baskets has grown into a wider range of handmade products, connecting the work of these artisans with homes, shops, hotels and lodges in Kenya and around the world.

Hadithi is a working business built around artisan groups. Orders come in, work is made, income is earned, and the work continues. We support that process through training, coordination, product development and long-standing relationships with the women we work with.

Craft provides another way to earn from home, using skills and materials that are part of life in Tsavo.

Each piece takes time. Fibre is stripped, rolled, dyed and woven over days. The hands and choices of the maker remain visible in the finished piece, so no two are exactly alike.

This is ongoing work, fitted around farming, family and everyday life, in a landscape where livelihoods are closely connected to the natural environment.

We connect this work to buyers and customers far beyond Tsavo — creating a market for the skills of the women who make our products.
